He worked for 15 years in the field of safeguarding archaeological and ethnological heritage, within the context of public and private construction projects across various regions of mainland Portugal. During this time, he was commissioned by the Ministry of Culture to conduct a dozen ethnographic surveys focusing on levadas (irrigation channels), water mills, stone pavements, and other vernacular structures.
He has conducted research on the Mediterranean diet, Alentejo Talha wine, cod and stockfish, as well as the traditions surrounding Madeira wine, couscous, and alfenim.

Researcher integrated in the UNESCO Chair in Intangible Heritage and Traditional Know-How: Connecting Heritage of the University of Évora.
Researcher integrated in the Centre for Linguistics of the University of Lisbon, in the area of Dialectology and Diachrony, collaborating in the publication of the Linguistic-Ethnographic Atlas of Madeira and Porto Santo.
