This application presents a unique opportunity to raise awareness among various segments of island society about the importance of vinegrowers in preserving Madeira Wine Traditions.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The University of Madeira has formally submitted the request to register Madeira Wine Traditions in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage<\/strong><\/a>. This is one of the steps required for the submission of an application to UNESCO. The preparation of the technical dossier was based on the study<\/strong> of the vast wealth of data on the cultural manifestation under analysis, collected by researchers from different areas of knowledge, since the beginning of the twentieth century. The fieldwork <\/strong>also included the collection of 72 audio interviews<\/strong> of individuals from the entire Madeira Wine community, among which 24 are vine growers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outra linha de a\u00e7\u00e3o, iniciada logo na fase das entrevistas, consistiu em sensibilizar os viticultores para a necessidade de estarem representados por um coletivo, nomeadamente uma associa\u00e7\u00e3o socioprofissional<\/strong>. Esta permitir-lhes-ia tomar parte de forma ativa nas decis\u00f5es que ir\u00e3o moldar o seu futuro, sendo um passo muito importante para assegurar a sobreviv\u00eancia da sua atividade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A metodologia adotada para a prepara\u00e7\u00e3o da candidatura privilegiou, sempre que poss\u00edvel, a participa\u00e7\u00e3o da comunidade<\/strong> interessada neste processo de patrimonializa\u00e7\u00e3o. Assim, a cada uma das oito empresas autorizadas a produzir Vinho Madeira, foi solicitado que selecionasse e cedesse material fotogr\u00e1fico e audiovisualdos seus acervos. O objetivo \u00e9 documentar o pedido de inscri\u00e7\u00e3o no invent\u00e1rio nacional do PCI. Foi poss\u00edvel reunir, desta forma, 278 fotografias e 5 v\u00eddeos <\/strong>que retratam o processo de produ\u00e7\u00e3o (da latada at\u00e9 ao engarrafamento). Uma dessas empresas (Madeira Wine Company<\/a>) forneceu ainda c\u00f3pias de v\u00e1rios documentos in\u00e9ditos<\/strong> at\u00e9 hoje, conservados no seu arquivo empresarial. Estes documentam ocorr\u00eancias importantes para a hist\u00f3ria das manifesta\u00e7\u00f5es culturais em an\u00e1lise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most important actions carried out, as part of the preparation of the application, was its presentation to a wide range of entities<\/strong>, from Regional Government bodies, city councils, companies in the sector, non-profit cultural and recreational organizations, etc. The following are the meetings held with these entities and their respective dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
